We have been collating and compiling statistics on horse racing and results independently for many years – in various shapes and forms and are constantly on the lookout for an opportunity to ‘beat the bookies’.
In most cases, what appears on the surface to be at first a successful formula, usually turns out to not live up to its initial promise or expectations and over the years we have learned the hard way not to be too optimistic too soon, having being disappointed so many times previously.
However in 2011, we decided to pool our resources on the basis that two heads are better than one and seriously began the search for a winning formula to beat all others. We quickly found that working together really does halve the workload (obviously) and more importantly allows you to bounce ideas around and often some little idea that may have been missed by one is soon given ‘legs’ by the smallest consultation with the other.
It was painstaking at first and involved many hours/days/weeks/ months of checking and re-checking options and results and eventually we narrowed it down to 5 simple ‘possibilities’ to examine in more depth. This was so far so good. One by one they all fell by the wayside after initially showing promise apart from 2 which began to excite us. We tweaked and amended these and eventually ended up combining the best bits of both into what we now, after rigorous testing since May 2012, are convinced is a recipe for consistent profits from horse racing.
Suffice to say that without giving away too many secrets, there are many elements to consider, such as form, various ratings, pedigree plus combinations etc. but to say much more would be to give away too much, so any more than that has to remain our trade secret! We also felt that price and value were extremely important considerations as these are what serious punters always look to first and foremost.
We spend around an hour every morning studying the race cards for possibilities and have found over time that it is better to keep selections to a minimum and go for the ‘quality’ aspect rather than quantity!
It is also important to say that we will never let this stand still either, we will continue to monitor and adjust wherever long term we believe it to be in the interests of maximising profits.
In short, we wanted to devise a service that fulfilled the following criteria…
Must be simple enough for anyone to use without exception.
Must be able to send out selections before ‘work time’ and enable people to bet early if they need to.
Must take no more than 2/3 minutes per day to operate for the subscribers.
Must have indisputable results and using Betfair SPs provides this.
All of the above is no easy feat and to have achieved those objectives in a profitable service is very pleasing.
The real Eureka moment arrived when we were retrospectively analysing our past winners to try to find a correlation and it suddenly hit us that there was a specific combination of certain elements that seemed to produce an inordinate amount of winners and was consistently generating an almost 50% hit-rate.
It is this ‘synergy’ that has now resulted in the service we now have today. And as with many other products, an addition or tweak or subtle combination of certain ingredients is the key, but it must remain our ‘secret’. These elements did not just appear all at once, but like a maturing wine they emerged one by one, and then stood-up to the scrutiny of research.
In summary:
There is no short–cut to success. Hard work and determination is the only way to achieve a goal and anyone who thinks it is easy, by all means ‘give it a go’ and see what happens!
